Debt Security-Bonds-Are They A Better Than Stocks?

Debt security (bonds) can be a better investment than stocks
Investors have two major options when they decide to put their money in financial securities. These options are stocks and bonds. Investing in stocks involves buying the shares of different companies. This means, you would have partial ownership of these companies and would be affected by the profits as well as gains made by them. Bonds, on the hand, are
debt

securities issued by governments and corporate bodies. The issuer of the bond is bound to pay the principal amount as well as interest to the holder of the bond ...

QE2

It is the clearest warning shot to date that global investors will not tolerate Ben Bernanke's openly-declared policy of generating inflation for much longer. Soaring bourses may have stolen the headlines, but equities are rising for an unhealthy reason: because they are a safer asset class than bonds at the start of an inflationary credit cycle. Meanwhile, the price of US crude oil jumped $2.5 a barrel to $87. It is up 20pc since markets first concluded in early September that 'QE2' was a done deal. This amounts to a tax on US consumers, transferring US income to Mid-East petro-powers. Copper has behaved in much the same way. So have sugar, soya, and cotton. The dollar plunged yet again. That may have been the Fed's unstated purpose. If so, Washington has angered the world's rising powers and prompted a reaction with far-reaching strategic consequences. Li Deshui from Beijing's Economic Commission said a string of Asian states share China's "...

My Question To Jim Rogers

The Currency Exchange Trap In Trading Global Markets, And My Question To Jim Rogers Author: Dean Whittingham Picture this: you live outside the US, let’s say Australia, you think the price of Oil is going to appreciate over the next month or two. Your options are to buy the commodity through the futures markets, buy a CFD, or buy an ‘oil’ based ETF. Either way, you will be buying an oil based asset and in which currency? The US dollar.

What happens? Well the price of Oil appreciates, and low and behold, so too does your purchase (whichever that may be), in fact it appreciates 20% over two months. Nice! Then something strikes you. You look at your financial statement only to be reminded that your sale price has been converted back to Australian dollars; naturally, this is where you live and so too does your broker.

So, what do you do, you flip back through your...

Options-How To Trade

How to Trade Options by Karen Rockfeller

It may seem like it would be hard to learn how to start to trade options. It doesn’t have to be. One of the easiest ways to start option trading is for a new options trader to begin by opening an online options trading account with a broker. The trader should choose a broker that offers online options trading to practice buying call options (the rights, but not the obligation, to buy for a specified amount by a specified time) for stocks that the trader believes will go up. The trader can also practice buying put options (the rights, but not the obligation, to sell for a specified amount by a specified time) for stocks that the trader believes will go down. When the trader is experienced and familiar with trading call options and put options, the options trader can then move on to the more complex option strategies.

Market Brief

BOJ: Big Mfrs Sentiment On Outlook Worsens For First Time In 7 Quarters
...US Conference Board: Sept US Consumer Confidence Index Falls To 48.5
Ireland Portugal Spain and greece teeter on the edge of default, yet the United States stock market rose again. Can anyone explain the reason why? There really isn't any reason for the market to have climbed in September. Data point after data point proves and shows that the worlds economies are in jeopardy yet money is flowing into equities from where noone really knows. The markets rise and the bearish etfs stand still, even in a down day these bear funds dont move like they used to. Is someone pushing the United States stock market upward in a show of strength? Wouldn't tampering with a free market be illegal?

Stock Market History

A Brief History of Stock Market Growth and Expansion Author: SMMS A brief history of the stock market might tell you that the world's first stock exchange was in Italy or in Egypt or even in France, but no matter where they originated, the concept of a place to trade stocks and bonds has taken firm root and stock exchanges are now the cornerstone of our financial marketplace.

The first American stock exchange was established in 1792 in New York at the intersection of Wall Street and Bond Street and it continues to be there today, having grown into one of the world's most influential stock markets. It is aptly called the New York Stock Exchange.

A brief history of stock market trading will show that the 1800s were a time of great innovation and growth for the stock market. It was in this century that government bonds, insurance and bank stocks started actively trading. It was al...
